Vegas Valley Book Festival

Vegas Valley Book Festival

The Vegas Valley Book Festival, now in its fourteenth year, is a celebration of the written, spoken, and illustrated word. The festival has networked together a community-wide consortium of cultural organizations and sponsors to offer “a one-stop shopping experience for literature” through a wide range of programs built around sharing resources, developing audiences, advancing the craft of writing, and sharing the joys of reading.

Thomas Lowrie Book Signing

In the book, He Was by Thomas Lowrie, Thomas tells us a story of him having one of those days, or one of those weeks. He asks if you have. If not you’re missing out. The book is written in first person as if he himself went back in time and became someone else.

The back cover of the book is very informative.

“Ever had one of those days, how about one of those weeks? If you haven’t, you are missing out. I spent years priding myself in the fact that I was always with it, I always had my wits about me, until that day. My life changed and not just a little. I became someone else, someone who was far stronger than I am, someone who I could only hope to be. Ray Lafayette was a man who was neither rich nor famous yet I lived every day to see what he would do next. The fear I experienced in that time only made the happiness that much more exciting. I have heard the statement “Don’t judge a man until you walk a mile in his shoes.” I walked many miles in his and can say with pride that he and all others from his time were the greatest, all colors, all nationalities, young and old, men and women alike. It may sound great to know the future but there is a dark side to it, an almost unbearable side. Your eyes will be opened to things your mind may not handle. This event has changed me. I no longer wish for things, I live for them.”

Check out the book. It’s a good read especially if your waiting to be deployed, or if you’re waiting on your next mission. There’s a lot of military waiting time. This is a great way of passing the time. It will change your perspective of military life in the 1940’s.

What a Great Saturday Niputi

Saturday July 25, 2015 was a great day here in Las Vegas. I was honored to be in the presence of greatness. Joe Bonpensiero author of Niputi.

Joe Bonepsiero who wrote Niputi, did his book signing at The Mob Museum. He sat next to the Book Store and talked with many guests as they exited the Museum. Many Sicilians stopped by to talk to him. He made a few friends as he signed their books. Some took pictures with their paisa. There was so much gratitude from guests that he is a Sicilian and wrote a book about his life as the nephew of a mobster.
I had so much fun there. It was exciting to say the least.

Click here for more information on Joe Bonpensiero.

Here are a few pictures of the event.

Baja Brody's Book Signing Was A Succes

Baja Brody and The Birthday Surprise book signing was a great success. Christina Willis was a great person meeting and greeting everyone. She gave many hugs that day. People were not only getting her book, but also the coloring book. People from all over the city came by to The Writer’s Block to see her and other authors. Including Alba Arango, who was there selling her Decoders series.

The best part of the evening was when Brody himself showed up with his cool glasses. I took a picture with him. I was so honored to be there.

Baja Brody Adventures at Writer's Block

Christina Willis is my all time favorite author for Children’s Books. She will be at the Writer’s Block Book Store for their Local Author Showcase. She will be signing her book Baja Brody and The Birthday Surprise.

I’ll see you guys there. Don’t be late. It’s at 5 pm.

Baja Brody is a wildly fun little boy with a bigger than life imagination!

In his delightfully, playful world everything comes to life.

His exciting adventures always include a pocket full of keys and two of his very favorite toys. His orange Baja buggy racing car and of course his wonderfully adorable sidekick Doodles the golden floppy stuffed dog. He never leaves home without his soft cuddly buddy in hand.
